Building ADUT: running an entire fleet from one screen
Fleet operations have a way of sprawling. Vehicles live in one tool, driver assignments in another, maintenance shops in a spreadsheet, and compliance in someone's inbox. Every extra system is another place for things to fall through the cracks.
ADUT is our answer to that sprawl: a full-stack fleet management and operations platform - web app and native mobile - where companies manage vehicles, trailers, drivers, maintenance, and compliance in one place.
The challenge: one product, many companies
The goal was not a tool for a single fleet - it was a product that could serve many companies at once, with strict data isolation between them. That raised the bar considerably:
- Multi-tenancy with subscription tiers and feature gating across the API, web, and mobile
- Real-time fleet visibility and an interactive map on both web and mobile
- A genuinely complex domain: vehicles, trailers, shops, driver assignments, hours-of-service, absences, and driver-facing document workflows
- Roles ranging from super admins down to individual truck drivers - each seeing only what they should
The solution: clean architecture + a shared API
We built a .NET 8 Web API using clean architecture (Core, Application, Infrastructure, API), a React 18 + TypeScript web SPA with Material UI and Redux Toolkit, and a native mobile app for iOS and Android that talks to the same API. Live updates flow through SignalR, so dispatchers watch the fleet move in real time.
Authentication uses JWT with role- and subscription-based access. Stripe powers the Lite and Standard plans, and telematics providers (e.g. Samsara) integrate on a per-tenant basis.
Power in the field, too
Drivers and field users get the same muscle on their phones: a live map with vehicle locations, weather and traffic overlays, and driving information. They can add and manage repair shops right on the map, and drivers can pull up and share vehicle documents - permits, registration - straight from the app.
The results
ADUT shipped as a production-ready, multi-tenant SaaS, on schedule:
- Full tenant isolation with tiered subscriptions (Lite / Standard)
- Fragmented tools and spreadsheets replaced by a single system for vehicles, drivers, maintenance, and compliance
- A real-time fleet map and dashboard, plus Stripe billing and per-tenant telematics
- A clean REST API ready to onboard new fleet operators without custom deployments
